In this video below we talk about a great article from Urban Survival Site that offers a unique perspective on the possible causes of a U.S. collapse. You can also listen to the full audio podcast that also goes over bartering for preppers & escape and evasion.
A collapse of the U.S. has long been a priority for preppers, but these days it seems we are inching ever closer to the edge of the cliff. Inching might be putting it lightly, running full sprint is probably more accurate. We blame the government for many of our woes (and rightly so) but they are just one piece of the puzzle.
We are more fractured as a society than any point in our lifetimes, possibly at any time since the Civil War. No longer do we agree to disagree. These days people are entrenched in their political and social beliefs, and there is no room for discussion.
Our society is not only based on the government being fiscally responsible and being attentive to the people, it’s also dependent on peoples faith that the system is functioning as it should. Our country is based on a system that requires compromise. When there is no compromise, everything falls apart from the inside out.
Civil & Social Unrest
It seems as though the United States is at a tipping point and could go one way or another. Because of social media and the internet, people have created their own little bubbles. People no longer have to entertain opposing opinions, thus creating the “us vs them” mentality we see in the U.S. and around the world today.
Over the last decade or so we’ve seen these tensions rise, and most of this can be attributed to the media and politicians fanning the flames. Perceived racial inequalities, income disparities, and frustration with the system have all lead us to this point.
Left, right or in the middle, everyone in this country is frustrated for one reason or another. Unfortunately, instead of pointing the finger at those causing the problems, we point them at each other…and that’s the way they want it.
Could these social disparities and frustration lead to another civil war or conflict? I used to think this was a far-fetched possibility, but I’m not so sure these days. In my opinion this seems to be somewhat orchestrated. To what end? I’m not sure, but I have my ideas. It could also be that the powers that be are completely inept, and so wrapped up in corruption that they can’t see (or refuse to see) the disaster heading their way.
An Overcomplex Society
There are a few different factors to consider when thinking about the over complexity of society. You have the general population, and you have the bureaucracy. It seems as though both of these are contributing to the societal decay we are seeing today.
Generally speaking, life has been so good in the United States in our lifetimes. No world wars, no great depression, and no large-scale disaster scenarios. Other than the great depression, this pandemic is probably the biggest thing that has happened in close to a century.
Because people have no real problems, they have created issues to be outraged about. Cancel culture and wokisim exist because life is so good in the United States.
“Hard times create strong people, strong people create good times, good times create weak people”.
Eventually this “Golden Age” of society is going to end, and my concern is we don’t know how to respond. This is not to say all is lost. Americans are resilient and have shown time and again our ability to step up to the plate.
Bureaucracy and government red tape is possibly the bigger issue. When a government becomes so big that one hand doesn’t know what the other one is doing, disfunction runs rampant. When a republic is no longer for the people by the people and becomes for the politicians by the politicians, it’s doomed to fail. It sure seems like that’s where we are.
This video from Prager U does a good job of explaining how bureaucracy works, and how things we the people have never agreed to or voted on affect our lives.
As pandemics go the Covid pandemic was fairly weak compared to pandemics of the past and what could come. The bigger issue with this pandemic was how governments around the world responded. What would things look like if a pandemic hit that actually did cripple society?
This video goes into much more detail about how devastating a pandemic with a higher mortality rate could be, and how this could all lead to The Great Reset. As they say, “Never let a good crisis go to waste”.
